Christopher Helt is a Chicago native who attended Loyola University, where he graduated cum Laude before attending Loyola University Chicago School of Law. Mr. Helt founded the Helt Law Group, LLC, where he represents immigrants appearing before the Department of Homeland Security, the U.S. Immigration Court, and the federal district and circuit courts.
A nationally recognized removal defense attorney, Mr. Helt focuses on the practice areas of federal immigration litigation, where it involves political asylum, refugee law, and deportation and removal proceedings.
Mr. Helt was named as a member of Who's Who in American Law and has appeared on local and national television programs on ABC, NBC, CBS, FOX, BBC and CNN news, and national radio news programs.
A previous expert witness in federal jury trials that focus on immigration and asylum-related matters, Mr. Helt creates comprehensive solutions for his clients throughout six different Federal Circuit Courts of Appeals, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces, and the U.S. Supreme Court.
Mr. Helt’s critical representation skills have led to him being featured in Time Magazine, the New York Times, the Chicago Sun Times, and the Chicago Tribune. He has also appeared on the covers of both the Chicago Reporter Magazine and Chicago Lawyer Magazine.
An active member of the ABA's Military Pro Bono Project, Mr. Helt provides representation to the underprivileged as pro bono general counsel and a board member of a non-profit organization that partners members of the Chicago FBI with local-area youths. The organization is comprised of FBI volunteers who dedicate educational services, teach leadership skills, and participate in mentoring Chicago-area youth.
Mr. Helt served as adjunct faculty member at Loyola University of Chicago and has previously taught immigration policy to undergraduate and graduate students.
Mr. Helt has been selection as a Top 100 Lawyer in America, an Illinois SuperLawyer, American Institute of Trial Lawyers selection as Litigator of the Year (2020, Imigration), and Martindale-Hubble AV (5.0) rated lawyer, its highest rating for legal and ethical standards.
