Karen Amlong attended Michigan State University on a fully won scholarship, where she graduated magna cum laude in 1968. Before attending law school at the Center for the Study of Law, formerly Nova University, and graduating with a Juris Doctorate degree in 1979, Ms., Amlong was elected as the first woman from Broward County to the Florida House of Representatives at the age of 27.
In 1982, Ms. Amlong and her husband, Bill Amlong, started The Amlong Firm, where their practice areas include labor and employment law, Civil Rights litigation, marital and family law, professional licensing and disciplinary proceedings, sexual harassment, administrative litigation, sex and gender discrimination, non-compete litigation, age discrimination, employment contract litigation, and whistleblower and retaliation cases.
Ms. Amlong is admitted to practice law in Florida, the Southern District of Florida Trial Bar, the U.S. District Court Southern District of Florida, the U.S. District Court Middle District of Florida, the U.S. Court of Appeals 11th Circuit, and the United States Supreme Court.
Together, Ms. Amlong and her partner in life and business have won significant cases that have changed the legal landscape going forward, including her victory in Stockett v. Tolin, Florida’s first significant sexual harassment judgment, and his in a Supreme Court case of the same subject.
