Before transitioning to criminal defense law, Geoff Heim amassed significant experience in aggressive trial practice as a deputy district attorney for the Offices of the District Attorney in several Colorado counties, including Arapahoe, Douglas, El Paso, and Teller. Serving as the Senior Deputy District Attorney in both Teller and El Paso County offices, he specialized in prosecuting high-profile homicide cases and crimes against children, all while overseeing a team of attorneys, investigators, and paralegals. Throughout his tenure as a prosecutor, Geoff earned the esteemed Trial Hound Award four times for his exceptional record of trying more felony cases than any other attorney in the El Paso County office. Armed with an intimate understanding of prosecution strategies, Geoff now leverages his experience to vigorously defend his clients against charges at the city, county, and state levels, employing his insight to anticipate and counter the prosecution's tactics effectively. As part of his dedication to the Colorado Springs community, he assumed the role of Chair of the Board of Directors for both Safe Passage (formerly the Children’s Advocacy Center for the Pikes Peak Region) and the Western Region Children’s Advocacy Center. In recognition of his unwavering support and commitment to the organization and the victims of child abuse it serves, Safe Passage honored him with the Captains Award in 2009. Additionally, in 2011, he was named Professional of the Year by ARC of the Pikes Peak Region for his provision of pro bono services to clients with intellectual and developmental disabilities. A native Coloradan, he proudly hails from Colorado Springs. He attended Cheyenne Mountain High School and earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Finance from the Leeds School of Business at the University of Colorado. Subsequently, he pursued his Juris Doctorate from the Creighton University School of Law.
